A half birthday is the date exactly six months after (or before) your birthday — the halfway point until you turn a year older. It is popular for summer and December birthdays that clash with holidays.
How do you work out a half birthday for 31 August?
Six months after 31 August is 28 February (or 29 February in a leap year), because February has no 31st. This calculator always moves to the last day of the month in that case.

Six months after 29 February is 29 August, every year.
